Add Standalone non-Steam Left 4 Dead to Xfire.

If you are running a non-steam, standalone version of Left 4 Dead and you would like to add it to Xfire, just follow the steps below. NOTE: Xfire updates will overwrite the xfire_games.ini file, so you will have to re-apply these changes after each new update.

1- Locate and edit the xfire_games.ini file.
XP users look in Program Files\Xfire
Vista users look in C:\ProgramData\Xfire



2- Open xfire_games.ini with notepad.
Use notepad's 'find...' feature to locate Left 4 Dead.

Should look like this:

LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath
LauncherExe=steam.exe
DetectExe=SteamApps\*\left 4 dead\left4dead.exe
LauncherNetworkArgs=+connect %UA_GAME_HOST_NAME%:%UA_GAME_HOST_PORT%
Launch=%UA_LAUNCHER_EXE_PATH% -applaunch 500 %UA_LAUNCHER_EXTRA_ARGS% %UA_LAUNCHER_NETWORK_ARGS%
ServerStatusType=SOURCE
ServerEncodingType=UTF8
InGameRenderer=D3D9

3- Find the following lines:

LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Valve\Steam\InstallPath
LauncherExe=steam.exe
DetectExe=SteamApps\*\left 4 dead\left4dead.exe

And replace with this:

LauncherDirKey=HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Left 4 Dead
LauncherExe=left4dead.exe
DetectExe=left4dead.exe

Save and Exit notepad. Restart Xfire.

4- Add Left 4 Dead to the Xfire detected games list:
Restart Xfire after editing the xfire_games.ini file
Go to Tools -> Options -> Games tab -> expand the "Not Installed" section and select Left 4 Dead.

Check the option that says "Manual Setup" then browse to the folder where L4D is installed.
Add Extra Command Line Parameters.  Click apply and OK.

All Done!
